My favorite iPhone doc so far. Oct 20, 2010 I have a few other iPhone docks, but what really makes this one nice is how easy it is plop your phone into it.
How I use it: I use it as a wall based charger.
(+) Solid, easy to use design. (-) Bright LED is annoying. (I put black tape over it.) (-) Not much use out of the horizontal mounting. But it works well, and the action is good. (-) I don't think it will work well with a iPhone 4. (-) If you have a "protector/cover" forget about using this. (I don't.)

Works for me Apr 18, 2010

I bought this to use on my night stand. I wanted to use my iphone as an alarm clock AND have it fully charged each morning. Being able to turn the iphone sideways, so that the clock numbers would be larger, was a prerequisite for me. It has worked perfectly for my application.
I have not attempted to connect it to a computer. I did connect a car adapter to the cable and attempt to use it in the cigarette lighter port of my RV....it did NOT work.
The bright blue light is, as everyone else mentioned, BRIGHT. That being said it is blue (if it were white I could see it being a huge problem) so I point it away from my bed and it lights up the ceiling with a somewhat pleasing blue tint - consider it a night light. OK, yes, I wish it were a lot dimmer and would have given it 5 stars if that were the case.
I am please and would recommend.

Missed the mark Aug 22, 2009
By Kelly StJohn The new 3G Iphone will not fit in the 1st generation chargers so I was looking for a new one. The review that said the LED was too bright wasn't kidding. The first thing I did was cover the light with a bit of white out. Why I still have a bottle of liquid Paper is another story! I really like the way this charger flips to the side, that part is really nice. But if you intend to use it to watch YouTube or to play your music - you need to know this unit covers the speakers and mutes the sound. If they had built in a line out that would have provided a solution, but it lacks that feature. I suppose you could still plug in speakers from the top if you wanted.

Bright, very bright, BRIGHT !!! Jul 27, 2009
By Robotster The blue power LED on the front of the unit is bright. Painfully BRIGHT!! It is impossible to look at the screen for video or emails without squinting because the power LED is way too bright. I had to place a small piece of sticky-note over the LED. Not to worry though, because the unit croaked only after 2 days of use. I tossed this in the trash. Save your money - Nice idea, bad execution. Did I mention that the power LED was way too bright?
USB Dock kit for 3GS Feb 14, 2012
By xD1337x I've been very pleased with this product since i got it. I read someone saying that it muffles the volume while docked which it absolutely has not for me.. I use my phone as my alarm while in this dock and have never slept through it, and I'm not a light sleeper. The option for it to go horizontal is my favorite feature. Its great for if you want to watch netflix on your phone as you go to sleep... The only reason i have rated this 4 stars is the issue with the incredibly luminescent BLUE LIGHT! If i hadn't blocked it, it would light up my entire room.. no joke its crazy bright. But a piece of electrical tape and viola... perfect. I would recommend this as a bedside dock for your iPhone 3G or 3GS device.
